Otis Dancel ``Danny'' Ripley Jr., 62, of the 300 block of Saunders Drive, died Sunday, July 7, 1996, in a Portsmouth hospital.

A native of Portsmouth, he was retired from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard as a general foreman in the Nuclear Inspection Division. He was a member and former deacon of Alliance Church in Portsmouth and past member of the Alliance Christian School Board. He was a member of Seaboard Masonic Lodge (NU)56 and was retired as a sergeant with the Portsmouth Auxiliary Police after 10 years.

Survivors include his wife, Grace Keel Ripley; two daughters, Sharon K. and husband, David W. Linkous, of Chesapeake and Lisa R. and husband, Robert J.D. Evans, of Suffolk; two sons, Stanley W. and wife, Kristen P. Ripley, and Stephen D. Ripley, all of Portsmouth; his mother, Elsie Owens Ripley of Portsmouth; a sister, Betty Jean Ripley of Portsmouth; and a grandchild, Stephen D. Linkous.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Alliance Church by the Rev. W. Keith McKnight and the Rev. Earl W. Freeland. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, from 7 to 9 p.m. today. Memorials may be made to the building fund of Alliance Church or to Alliance Christian School.
