As a Granby High School teacher, I was shocked and saddened at the news that the funding for the renovations to the school would be cut.
When will our children be the first priority in this city?
Built in 1939, Granby does not need a repainting (as Dr. Nichols suggested for the gym) but a major overhaul. Everyone who attended or taught at Granby High should stand up to this latest slight to a wonderful old institution. They should let the School Board and, especially, the City Council know that ``fund raising'' is not good enough.
Norfolk needs the permanent tax base a first-class school system helps to provide, not the fleeting tourist dollars of a mall or tourist attraction.
