Maxine Marie Oakley, of the 1600 block of South St., died July 6, 1996, in Franklin, Va.
Mrs. Oakley was a native of Franklin, Va., and was retired from AT&T Telephone Company. She was predeceased by her parents, John O. and Maxine Mills Whitehead.
Survivors include her husband, Sherman Oakley; sons, Ronald Keith Whitehead of Franklin and Allen J. Oakley of Brooklyn, N.Y.; daughters, Malinda Whitehead of Franklin and Shelia D. Oakley of Brooklyn, N.Y.; a sister, Ruby Holloway of Virginia Beach; and 12 grandchildren.
A funeral service will be conducted today at 11 a.m. in Elvin Vaughan Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Joseph Greene. Burial will be in Southview Cemetery.
