WILLIAM J. WALKER

William Jefferson ``Jeff'' Walker, 88, of the 200 block of Sir Oliver Road, died July 6, 1996, in Norfolk.

Mr. Walker was born in Ellenboro, N.C. He was a retired commander in the U.S. Naval Reserve and was retired from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. He was a member of Talbot Park Baptist Church, a graduate of Maury High School, class of 1926, and a graduate of North Carolina State. He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Nita Walker, and a son, John Michael Walker.

Survivors include a daughter, Cheryl Brumfield of Virginia Beach; a son, William Jefferson Walker Jr. of Lovettsville, Va.; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. today in Forest Lawn Cemetery.

Quiet, gentle, strong and extremely honest, he was the anchor of his family. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
