The Rev. Morris W. Beeks of the 2900 block of Taylor Road died July 7, 1996, in Maryview Hospital, Portsmouth.
Mr. Beeks was born in Asheville, N.C., and was a retired printer for Containers Corporation of America, Chicago, after 25 years of service. He was a member and associate minister of the James Thomas Bible Class; a member of Ebenezer Church, Portsmouth; and a member of Interdenominational Minister Forum of Portsmouth and vicinity.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy M. Beeks; three sons, Morris W. Beeks Jr. of Los Angeles, Nathaniel Beeks of Aurora, Ill., and Jerome Beeks of Chicago; a sister, Poneise Beeks of Chicago; a brother, Daniel Beeks of Chicago; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; an aunt, Irene Jackson of Chicago; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.
The funeral will be conducted Thursday at noon by the Rev. Ben A. Beamer Sr. in Ebenezer Baptist Church, Portsmouth. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Corprew Funeral Home, Portsmouth, is in charge. Viewing at Corprew Funeral Home will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday. The body will be taken to the church at 10 a.m. Thursday.
