James Angelo Mazzone, 74, of the 4200 block of Griffin St., died July 7, 1996, in a Portsmouth hospital.
Mr. Mazzone, a native of Philadelphia, Pa., was retired from the Portsmouth Naval Hospital as an electrician after 33 years of service. He was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church; Knights of Columbus 418; was a Army veteran of World War II and a recipient of the Purple Heart. He was the widower of Caroline Penello Mazzone.
Survivors include two sons, Stephen J. Mazzone of South Carolina and Michael A. Mazzone of Portsmouth; a brother, Anthony M. Mazzone of Pennsylvania; six grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in Foster Funeral Home, Portsmouth, by the Rev. Joseph S. Slowik. Burial will be in Portsmouth Catholic Cemetery. Friends may join the family from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
