A Manteo man has been charged with second-degree rape in connection with an alleged sexual assault at his residence.
Robert G. Cook, 34, is being held on $30,000 bond in the Dare County Detention Center.
Dare County Chief Deputy Rodney Midgett said the woman was visiting Cook's male roommate when the alleged incident occurred.
``The roommate and the victim had been out, then came home. The victim was asleep at the time of the alleged attack,'' Midgett said.
Cook is scheduled to make his initial appearance in Dare County District Court this morning.
