Janie M. Myers, 92, of First Colonial Inn, died July 8, 1996, in her residence.
Mrs. Myers, a native of Portsmouth, was a long standing member of Park Place United Methodist Church. She was the widow of Vernon T. Myers Sr., a Norfolk developer and chairman of the Board Ameritus of the Econo Lodge Corp., a motel chain he originated.
Survivors include a son, Vernon T. Myers Jr. and his wife, Nancy Graham-Myers of Virginia Beach; two granddaughters, Karen A. Custer and Dr. Dana L. Myers; two great-grandchildren, Alyson R. Custer and Stephan P. Custer. This sweet, gentle lady was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday by the Rev. Larry Shoaf in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Great Neck Chapel, today from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m.
