A MetroNews story Monday about Suffolk's battle over lot sizes
erroneously reported that a developer planned to build 15 homes on
20,000-square-foot lots in the Indian Point subdivision. The
developer plans to build 237 homes.
The U.S. Department of Education last week began nationwide
distribution of a ``Manual to Combat Truancy'' that lists Norfolk
among nine urban school districts that have model truancy policies
in place. However, Norfolk did not receive a federal grant last week
to reduce truancy; the department will award 25 grants of between
$300,000 to $500,000 in September. A July 4 article stated
erroneously that the grants already had been awarded.
A story in Tuesday's MetroNews section said a fund-raising
benefit would help pay medical expenses for injured motorcycle
officer Rich Dinapoli. The city of Virginia Beach will cover
Dinapoli's medical expenses. However, his injury has also resulted
in many family expenses that are not covered, which is why police
and an Oceanfront business held the fund-raiser for him. by CNB
