CHESAPEAKE RESIDENTS TO GET CHANCE TO HELP CITY PLANNERS

Residents of Deep Creek, Camelot, southern Chesapeake and Great Bridge tonight will have an opportunity to help city planners shape the future of their neighborhoods.

City planners will hold a citizens workshop for input into the city's Comprehensive Plan at 7 p.m. at the Deep Creek Community Center, 2901 Margaret Booker Drive, near Deep Creek High School.

It is an opportunity for residents to influence the plan, the city's blueprint for future development.

The Planning Department staff will use citizen input in its update of the comprehensive plan, which will guide the city over the next two decades.

Among the issues that can be affected by the plan are growth patterns, traffic alignments, environmental policies and utility guidelines.

It's extremely important that citizens attend the meeting, said Brent Nielson, the city's chief planner. MEMO: Call the city Planning Department at 382-6176 for more information

or to check if the meeting has been canceled because of the approaching

storm.
