HENRY G. LUHRING JR.

Henry Garrett Luhring Jr., 74, of 4409 Deer Lake Court, died Wednesday, July 10, 1996, in his residence.

A native of Norfolk, he was the husband of Alice Crenshaw Luhring. In 1968, he retired as president of Luhring Motor Co., which was on 21st Street in Norfolk. In 1990, he retired as executive vice president of Ferox Microsystems Inc. in Alexandria. During World War II he was a chief aviation pilot in the Coast Guard. He was a member of St. Francis Episcopal Church. He was on the Board of Keep Virginia Beautiful and on the Board of the Norfolk YMCA. He attended Maury High School and Virginia Tech.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Anne Luhring Briggs of Berea, Ohio; two sons, Henry Garrett ``Hank'' Luhring III of Virginia Beach, and Russell Crenshaw ``Rusty'' Luhring of Alexandria; a sister, Helen Virginia Luhring Anderson of Virginia Beach; and 11 grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, Frederic Nelson Luhring.

A memorial service will be conducted Saturday at 11:30 a.m. at St. Francis Episcopal Church, 509 Rosemont Road, Virginia Beach, by the Rev. Elisa Wheeler. The family will receive friends after the service in their home. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
