Addie Joyner Bristow, 100, died July 11, 1996.
A native of Southampton County, she was a daughter of the late Leonard and Effie Cobb Joyner and the widow of Thomas N. Bristow. She was a member of Suffolk Christian Church.
Surviviors include five daughters, Martha B. Koon of Portsmouth, Louise B. Dowling of Gloucester, Claudette B. Arrington of Windsor, Janie B. Turner and Rachel B. DeBenedictis, both of Suffolk; three sons, Arthur B. Bristow of Hampton, Samuel H. Bristow of Norfolk, James E. Bristow of Suffolk; two sisters, Iona J. Gilliam of Franklin and Hattie J. Dailey of Suffolk; one brother, Alonzo E. Joyner of Franklin; 19 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. in the R. W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home by the Rev. Michael D. Halley. Burial will be in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends in the funeral home today from 7 to 8 p.m., and other times at the home of James Bristow, 1216 Peachtree Drive.
