NORFOLK NATIVE WILL CARRY OLYMPIC TORCH

Norfolk native Michael Stogner will carry the Olympic torch on a half-mile run through Thomaston, Ga., Friday evening as a representative of NationsBank and the state of Georgia.

Stogner, 28, is a graduate of Granby High School and Old Dominion University. He was selected to carry the flame for a segment of its journey south toward the Olympic Games in a random drawing at the Atlanta bank branch, where he works as a financial planner.

Stogner, a 1990 graduate of ODU, moved to Atlanta about 18 months ago. He previously worked for an accounting firm at the World Trade Center in Norfolk. His mother, Joan Stogner, lives in the Bayview section of Norfolk. His father, the late Lawrence Stogner, was a chief warrant officer in the Navy. by CNB
