The Chesapeake City Council met Tuesday and took the following actions, based on a report from the Office of the City Clerk. Acknowledgment of rezoning applications from Ed Trotman for property at 1301 Ohio St. from office and institutional district to residential district. Approved, 9-0.Acknowledgment of rezoning application from Gerald Dixon and Milton Perry for property at the corner of Johnstown and Hanbury roads from single-family residential district to office and institutional district. Approved, 9-0.Acknowledgment of rezoning application from Midgette and Associates and Milton Perry for properties at 200 and 300 block of Gallbush Road from agricultural district to conservation district. Approved, 9-0.Request by Police Department for appropriation of $2,621.81 of school security reimbursement funds. Approved, 9-0.Request by Police Department for appropriation $368.45 of seized assets funds allocated by the U.S. Department of Treasury. Approved, 9-0.Consideration of a resolution of the City Council requesting the Commonwealth of Virginia, Department of Transportation, to program a project for the replacement of the bridge on Land of Promise Road. Continued at the request of the city manager.Consideration of a resolution authorizing the interim city manager and city clerk to execute a deed vacating a drainage easement in the Pleasant Grove Borough. Approved, 9-0.Request by Budget Office for appropriation of $30,542 and contingency fund transfer of $2,664 - amendment of the commonwealth attorney's fiscal year 1996-97 operating budget to reflect approvals by the State Compensation Board. Approved 9-0.An ordinance to regular the hours during which bingo games may be played. Continued at the request of the city attorney.Resolution accepting the proposal of Signet Bank to provide services to the city for a five-year term plus a one-year renewal option. Approved, 9-0.Request by the Department of Public Works for authority to proceed with the Geographic Information System Project. Approved, 9-0.Consideration of a resolution authorizing the interim city manager and the city clerk to execute a purchase contract with the industrial development authority of the city to acquire property at 3816 Cook Blvd. Approved, 9-0.Request by the Department of Public Utilities for appropriation of $385,246.33 for an elevated tank at Cavalier Industrial Park.
