Laura Belle Creech Garrett, beloved wife of 57 years of H. Singleton Garrett, died July 12, 1996, in a Norfolk hospital.
Survivors include two children, Singleton Garrett Osterhoudt of Roanoke, Va., Elizabeth Chambers Garrett of Virginia Beach; two grandchildren, James Walker Carty III and Laura Singleton Carty, both of Charlotte; and two great-grandchildren, Matthew James Carty and Madeleine Elizabeth Carty, along with six nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be conducted Monday at 11 a.m. at Freemason Street Baptist Church by Dr. Donald J. Dunlap. The family will receive friends at 1002 Donation Drive in Virginia Beach today from 3 to 5 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made to the American Heart Association. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Norfolk will be handling the arrangements.
