Janet ``Jan'' F. Manese of Virginia Beach died July 13, 1996.
Mrs. Manese was born Nov. 6, 1913, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. She came to the United States in the mid-1940s and received her U.S. citizenship on Sept. 2, 1959. Mrs. Manese was preceded in death by her husband Charles R. Manese.
Survivors include a daughter, Mary Anne Gravely and her husband, John E. Gravely, both of Virginia Beach; a son, Charles R. Manese Jr. of Staunton, Va.; a brother, Les Campbell of Winnipeg, Manitoba; a grandson, Matt Gravely and a granddaughter, Anna Gravely, both of Virginia Beach; a step-grandson, David Gravely of Fairfax, Va.; and a step-granddaughter, Terri Gravely of Pine Busch, N.Y.
Mrs. Manese will be missed greatly and remembered for her gentle compassion, dignity and grace.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Eastern Shore Episcopal Church Cemetery by the Rev. Andrew J. Macbeth. Memorial donations may be made to The American Cancer Society. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Laskin Road Chapel, is handling arrangements.
