Thelma Ree Bateman, 77, of the 4200 block of Neptune Ave., died July 12, 1996, in her residence.
Mrs. Bateman was born in Hertford County, N.C., and was the widow of Jerry D. Bateman. She was a member of Calvary Presbyterian in Norfolk. She was predeceased by her parents, Betty S. and Monnie H. Israel.
Survivors include a daughter, Lillia Ree Kilby and her husband, Keith, of Norfolk; two sons, Larry and his wife, Laura Bateman, of Chesapeake and Jeffrey and his wife, Linda Bateman, of Richmond; a sister, Doris R. Joyner of Rocky Mount, N.C.; four brothers, Harvey D. Israel of Rocky Mount, N.C., Mervin Israel of Honolulu, Hawaii, Arthur Eugene Israel of Norfolk and Kenneth Israel of Newport News; eight grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
The funeral will be conducted Monday at 11:30 a.m. by Pastor Mark Bender in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Indian River Chapel. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 4 to 6 p.m.
