MARY ALICE SHIPLEY

Mary Alice Allen Shipley, 85, of the 1000 block of Paxson Ave., died July 13, 1996, in Chesapeake.

Mrs. Shipley was born in Norfolk and was the widow of Edward Leo Shipley Sr. She was a member of St. Brides Episcopal Church and was a Sunday School teacher. She was a charter member of Chesapeake Hospital Auxiliary where she served as a volunteer for 20 years; member of American Association of Retired Persons and Chesapeake First Senior Citizens Club; and was past president of South Norfolk PTA.

Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Lois S. and Lankford Lane of Chesapeake; a son and his wife, Edward L. Jr. and Mary Jane Shipley of Richmond; a sister, Marion Stone of Norfolk; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be conducted Monday at 11 a.m. by Father Michael Godderz in St. Brides Episcopal Church. Burial will be in Riverside Memorial Park. Graham Funeral Home, South Norfolk Chapel is in charge. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 4 to 5 p.m. and at 2460 Dunbarton Drive, Chesapeake at all other times. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to St. Brides Episcopal Church, 621 Sparrow Road, Chesapeake.
