On behalf of all stockholders of Virginia Power, I take exception to the full-page ad appearing in the July 4 Virginian-Pilot.
This was another example of the waste of stockholders' profits. After all, Virginia Power is a monopoly; extensive advertising is not necessary.
A notice in the monthly bill would have been sufficient. Or the company could have used a smaller ad. The thank-you note covered only about one-third of the whole page anyway.
This, however, is good for the newspaper, another monopoly.
