Retired Master Sgt. Donna M. ``Sparkie'' Sparks, after serving her country for 20 years in the Air Force and fighting a long battle with cancer, has gone on to be with the Lord. She was 43. Donna died July 14, 1996, in Veterans Hospital in Hampton.
Donna is the daughter of Rogers L. Sparks of Port St. Lucie, Fla., and the late Martha L. Sparks.
Donna is survived by her daughter, Heather Leigh Dyer; her stepmother, Dee Sparks of Port St. Lucie; her brother, Richard Sparks of Virginia Beach; and her sisters, Beverly Mann of Smithfield and Linda Sparks of Indian Head, Md.; her nephew, John Richard Sparks of Williamsburg; and a niece, Linda Marie Mann of Smithfield.
There will be no funeral service, but her family wishes that any memorial donations be made to: Palliative Care Program, Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Building 114, Hampton, Va. 23667, in memory of Donna Sparks, PCP/Veterans Administration. Colonial Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
