SALOME C. RUNALDUE

Salome Carter Runaldue, 81, of 1836 LeGare Lane, went to be in the presence of the Lord with her family at her side July 14, 1996, at her residence.

She was born Feb. 22, 1915, in Fentress, Va., the daughter of the late Joseph Bernard Carter and the late Salome Swartz Carter. She was the last of 11 children to pass on. Not only was she a dear mother but also a dear friend. She was the best grandmother in the world and will be greatly missed by her grandchildren. She was a retired beautician from the Monticello Hotel. She was a member of Thalia Lynn Baptist Church. She was a charter member of Al Kena Temple 124 in Norfolk. She was also a charter member of the Blanche Webb Circle of Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters. She was predeceased by her husband, James Vincent Runaldue; her daughter, Mary Aileen Harrell; grandson, Thomas A. Wright Jr.; and a sister, Aileen Proffitt.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Delma Lee and Thomas A. Wright Sr. of Virginia Beach; a granddaughter and her husband, Salome Cheri and Todd Wobig of Virginia Beach; two grandsons, James Runaldue Wright of Virginia Beach and Frank Vincent Harrell of Windsor; a great-granddaughter, Amanda Marie Wobig of Virginia Beach.

A service will be conducted Wednesday at noon in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel, by Dr. Donald H. Traylor, an old and dear friend of the family. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home at other times at 1836 LeGare Lane, Virginia Beach. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Kempsville Rescue Squad. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
