Carl William Mason Sr., 78, of the 3700 block of Rokeby Ave., died Sunday July 14, 1996, in Chesapeake General Hospital.
He was born in Stumpy Point, N.C., March 17, 1918, son of the late William Thomas and Bertha Hooper Mason. He had resided in Chesapeake since 1941. Mr. Mason was in the merchant marine during World War II. He was retired from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard and Harris Office Supply. He was a member of Memorial Methodist Church and a member of Willis V. Fentress Lodge (NU)296, A.F. & A.M.
Survivors include his wife, Allie Midgette Mason; a daughter, Deborah G. Rock and her husband, James Rock; two sons, Carl William Mason Jr. and his wife, Delores Mason, both of Chesapeake, Ted C. Mason and his wife, Shirley Mason of Mississippi; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be conducted in Twiford Colonial Chapel Wednesday at 2 p.m. Burial will follow in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens. A visitation for family and friends will be held in Twiford Funeral Home this evening from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and all other times at the residence. Twiford Funeral Home, Great Bridge, Chesapeake is handling all arrangements.
