William Joseph Stephens, 94, of the 100 block of Sequoia Road, died July 15, 1996, in a Portsmouth hospital. A native of Cumberland County, N.C., he retired from the Naval Air Station as a metalsmith.
Survivors include his wife, Nellie Mae Stephens; two daughters, Terry J. Anderton and Shirley T. Kelly, both of Portsmouth; four grandchildren, Michael Schrammel, Pamela Kuntz, Erin Cullers and James Kelly Jr.; and two great-grandchildren, Jacob Beaver and Brooke Cullers.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday by Pastor Jim Wall in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, today from 7 to 8 p.m.
