Dare County was the place for croaker fishermen to be Tuesday.
Kitty Hawk Pier anglers caught good numbers of medium-sized croaker, some spot and scattered sea mullet on bloodworms.
Avalon Pier reported croaker and sea mullet taken.
Nags Head Pier fishermen landed a mixture of large and small croaker.
Jennette's Pier and Outer Banks Pier reported a few small croaker and pigfish taken.
On Hatteras Island, spot fishing was good on Rodanthe Pier. Some croaker and legal-sized gray trout also were landed.
Avon Pier fishermen caught 10- to 12-inch croaker throughout the day. Some nice croaker, spot and black drum were landed on Frisco Pier.
Croaker fishing was good in the surf from Corolla to Oregon Inlet, although most of the fish taken were small.
Small bottom fish, tailor blues and a few gray trout were landed around Oregon Inlet.
Croaker weighing as much as 1 1/2 pounds were plentiful along the beach from Rodanthe to Buxton.
A few puppy drum were landed Monday night and early Tuesday morning at Cape Point. Croaker and small bluefish were taken Tuesday.
Croaker, spot, medium-sized bluefish and a few pompano were landed in the surf from Frisco to Hatteras Inlet.
Inshore trolling around Oregon Inlet was fair, with some bluefish and Spanish mackerel taken.
Headboat fishing in the sound was slow, with a few croaker and small bottom fish taken. Pigfish were landed by ocean headboat fishermen.
Offshore fishing was generally slow off Oregon Inlet. Charters landed a few tuna and dolphin.
Hatteras charters reported good dolphin fishing.
The water temperature was 57.5 degrees Tuesday at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Pier in Duck, and 81 degrees at Avon Pier on Hatteras Island. by CNB
