VIRGINIA BEACH - Jesse T. ``Lil Duke'' Artis of the 500 block of Southgate Ave. died July 15, 1996.

Mr. Artis, a native of Norfolk, retired from the Norfolk Navy Public Works Center nine years ago as a project coordinator after 28 years of service. He was a member of Macedonia United Pentecostal Church, Norfolk, were he was an ordained deacon and chairman of the Men's Day Fellowship. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.

Survivors include his wife, Gloria P. Artis; three daughters, Paula Artis of Silver Springs, Md., and Lisa Artis Kirkley and LaKeahia Artis of Virginia Beach; five sons, Larry Artis and Ronriques Artis of Virginia Beach, Lamark Artis of Greenville, N.C., Jerome Artis of Norfolk and Ra'nadro Miller of Las Vegas, Nev.; two sisters, Edna Cameron of Norfolk and Irma Speller of Chesapeake; a brother, Elton Artis of Virginia Beach; and 15 grandchildren.

The funeral will be conducted at noon Saturday by Bishop S.L. Copeland and the Rev. David S. Jackson in Olive Grove Baptist Church, Norfolk. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake. Family and friends will assemble at the residence at 11 a.m. Saturday. Hale Funeral Home is in charge. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
