Jacob Kellam Sr.
NORFOLK - Elder Jacob Kellam Sr. of the 1800 block of Barre St., born March 3, 1908, died July 13, 1996, in Lake Taylor Hospital.
Mr. Kellam, the widower of Elizabeth Cypress Kellam, retired from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard after 33 years of service as an electrician. He was a native of Stoneville, N.C., and a member and associate pastor of Herald of His Coming C.O.G.I.C. He was a member of Grand United Order of Seven Wisemen.
Survivors include three sons, Jacob Kellam Jr., Columbus Kellam Sr. and Quenton Kellam, all of Norfolk; a brother, William Kellam of Martinville, Va.; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Mary Kellam; and a host of other relatives and friends.
The funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday by Elder Ronald Sewell Sr. in Herald of His Coming C.O.G.I.C., Norfolk. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park. The remains will be ready for viewing at 3 p.m. Friday. The family will assemble at 901 Craig St. for the procession at 9 a.m. Carlos A. Howard Funeral Home is in charge.
