Regarding ``Welcome PETA'' (letter, June 24): I cannot and I will not welcome any person or group that tries to force its views on me.
PETA claims to be nonviolent, yet it gives total support to the radical group ALF. If PETA and ALF have a good case to make, let them make it peacefully and through good education, not through violence and destruction.
I too believe in the ethical treatment of animals, to a point. We must all remember that humans are also animals, and to carry out these acts of violence and destruction against humans goes against what PETA and ALF supposedly stand for.
If these two groups are seriously trying to help the other animals, they should be trying to enlist open-minded animals like me instead of turning us off with senseless acts of violence and destruction. Their goals will never be met until they treat all animals (including humans) ethically and with love.
