As a bus operator at Tidewater Regional Transit, I took great offense to the recent letter from Don Vtipil (July 1). It seems to me that he does not understand our system.
Mr. Vtipil's statement about the bus passing several bus stops along the road without picking up any passengers could be true. However, a bus stopping and waiting at Wards Corner to ``catch up with its schedule'' is entirely out of the question. If Mr. Vtipil had listened to earlier advertisements, he would have known that Wards Corner is one of several ``direct transfer centers'' where buses meet and passengers can transfer safely and continue on to their destination of choice.
Mr. Vtipil also has not been in the right areas. Our busses do run to capacity on all lines, some of which carry standing-room-only loads.
Meticulous records are kept by efficient bus monitors day in and day out, and notations are made to add or to delete service as need be.
