With July came child day-care reform. Virginians have Sen. Stanley Walker, who still serves as chair of the Commission on Early Childhood and Child Day Care Programs, to thank for his unceasing support for child well-being in Virginia.
Virginia ranks near the bottom of the list of states in reference to child-care regulation. Senator Walker introduced the bill that was passed by the General Assembly in 1993 to revise the system of licensure for child-care centers and family day homes. We applaud measures to keep Virginia's children safe. Regulations are for protection and not interference.
