The Chesapeake City Council met last week and took the following actions, as reported by the Office of the City Clerk.
Request by William McCloud for use permit to add a 1,970-square-foot, one-story building to an existing educational school at 1229 Hazel Ave. Approved, 9-0 with stipulations.
Request by Raeford Eure for rezoning of property at the corner of Waters Road and Washington Drive from R-15, single-family residential district, to R-12, single-family district. Failed, 4-5. de Triquet, Duda, Krasnoff, Parker and Thornton voted no.
Request by J. Randall Royal to construct a restaurant with drive-through on Greenbrier Parkway. Approved, 9-0.
Request by Mark Williamson for rezoning of property at Portsmouth Boulevard and Gum Road from single-family residential district to neighborhood business district. Continued to the Aug. 20 meeting, 8-1. Ward voted against the continuance.
An ordinance to permit cargo containers used for storage purposes in all commercial and industrial zoning districts. Continued to the Aug. 20 meeting, 9-0.
An ordinance to classify towing services without outside storage and to require a conditional use permit for towing services with outside storage. Approved, 9-0.
An ordinance to decrease the number of required parking spaces for office buildings. Approved, 9-0.
