Fannie Epps Smith McEachin, 82, of the 6400 block of Clare Road, departed this life peacefully at her residence July 18, 1996.
A native of Cumberland, Va., she was the daughter of the late Virginia and Nathaniel Epps. Mrs. McEachin, a homemaker, was the widow of Vircle McEachin. She was a member of St. Luke Holiness Church of Christ Diciples. Aside from raising three children of her own, Mrs. McEachin also gave of her time by serving as an adopted mother to several children and had been devoted to this work for over 25 years.
Survivors include a daughter, Fayvener Bethea of Norfolk; two sons, Joseph Smith of Norfolk, Lessie Smith of Richmond, Va.; two sisters, Emma Ricks of Norfolk, Susie Longhorne of Cumberland; a brother, Stanley Epps of Cumberland; seven adopted children; nine grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; a son-in-law, Allen Bethea of Norfolk; two daughters-in-law, Claudine Smith of Richmond, Pearl Smith of Norfolk; and a host of nieces, nephews and devoted friends.
The funeral will be conducted at noon Wednesday by the Rev. Ella Mae Hall in St. Luke Holiness Church of Christ Diciples, 809 Norchester Ave., Norfolk. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park. Viewing will be held Tuesday from 2 to 8 p.m. A Wake service will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. in Riddick Funeral Service. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
