James L. Bathurst, 56, of the 600 block of Sparrow Road, died July 20, 1996, in a Chesapeake hospital.
Mr. Bathurst, a native of Tyrone, Pa., retired from the U.S. Navy after 20 years of service. He also retired from Norfolk Naval Shipyard. He was a U.S. Naval veteran; a member of Vietnam Veterans of America, Va. Chapter (NU)48, with two Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star.
Survivors include his wife, Gail M. Bathurst; two daughters, Vicky Marie and her husband, Marvin Michael Aldridge of Chesapeake, Jennifer Lynn and her husband, John M. Morgan of Chesapeake; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Gregory and Marjorie Bathurst of Portsmouth, Phillip and Bonnie Bathurst of Middletown, Pa., Darrel and Linda Bathurst of Huntingdon, Pa., Kenneth and Maryann Bathurst of Roaring Spring, Pa.; and four grandchildren, Chad Michael Aldridge, Chelsea Marie Aldridge, Joshua Ryan Brady, and Jessica Lynn Morgan.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday by Father Jim Wolfcale in Colonial Grove Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Indian River Chapel, Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or to Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters.
