U.S. Navy RMCS Robert Edward Horgan, retired, 71, of the 200 block of Randall Ave., died at Autumn Care Nursing Facility on Friday July 19, 1996.

He was the son of the late Joseph P. and Lillian McCrory Horgan and the loving husband of Sybil Minton Horgan who survives. Mr. Horgan was retired from the U.S. Navy after 27 years of service and being highly decorated. His decorations include the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal for Lebanon Area of Operation, Good Conduct Medal (fifth award) for period ending May 15, 1965, and the National Defense Service Medal with Bronze Star. He was a member of the Fleet Reserve Branch (NU)60.

Besides his wife, Robert is survived by a son, Robert ``Billy'' Horgan; two daughters, Glenda Cunningham, Lois Horgan; a brother, Joseph T. Horgan; a sister, Margaret Toy; and a grandchild.

The funeral will be held in the Memorial Spiritual Church, W. 37th St., Norfolk, at 3 p.m. today with the Rev. Leila Cutler officiating and a Fleet Reserve funeral ritual will be accorded at the church. Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of ones choice or to the Autumn Care Nursing Home Activities Fund. Altmeyer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
