CAREER TRACK

ACCOUNTING

George J. Walker was promoted from a senior-in-charge accountant to supervisor at Goodman & Company in Norfolk. He will be responsible for engagements for a wide variety of clients including manufacturers, fishing vessels, seafood processors/distributors, public school activity and club funds and real estate related entities. He has been with the company since 1988.

Also, Goodman & Company promoted Karen L. Anderson, Casey Golliher, Donna G. Mahan and Lisa Messina from senior to senior-in-charge accountants.

At Coopers & Lybrand in Virginia Beach, James D. Fike, Kathleen R. Loadwick and Katherine P. Wright were promoted from business assurance associates to business assurance senior associates.

ADVERTISING

Patricia S. Cassidy was promoted to advertising media supervisor at Barker Campbell & Farley in Virginia Beach. She joined the company in 1985 and most recently served as senior media planner/buyer. In addition to her new position, she will also continue to serve as the agency's principal broadcast buyer.

BANKING

Edward L. Oast III was named vice president, commerical loan officer at the Bank of Hampton Roads, Greenbrier office. He was formerly with First Virginia Bank.

LAW

William L. Dudley Jr., a partner with the Norfolk law firm of Knight, Dudley, Clarke & Dolph, was elected as chair-elect of the Virginia State Bar's Conference of Local Bar Associations' 1996-97 Executive Committee. He is also a member of the Virginia State Bar Council and the Norfolk/Portsmouth Bar Association.

The Virginia Law Foundation Board of Directors elected F. Blair Wimbush as president for its '96-'97 fiscal year. Wimbush, general solicitor for the Norfolk Southern Corp., has served on the foundation's board of directors since 1992.

Patrick C. Devine Jr., a principal in the law firm of Hofheimer, Nusbaum, McPhaul & Samuels in Norfolk, was elected chairman of the Board of Governors of the Health Law Section of the Virginia State Bar. He continues to serve as editor of its Health Law News.

MARKETING

Peter Volpitta was named a partner with the Newell Marketing Group, a marketing firm in Virginia Beach specializing in corporate incentive programs and fundraising. He was previously vice president of sales for an independent business music dealer in the Philadelphia market.

MORTGAGE

Whitney Wheeler Orrell was named a mortgage executive with Norwest Mortgage Inc. in Virginia Beach. She was a former associate with W.L. Gore and First Fidelity Mortgage Corp.

SHIPBUILDING

Stephen F. Hogan was named chief information officer at Newport News Shipbuilding. He will be responsible for all aspects of information technology, including information technology strategy, architecture, systems development and support for Newport News Shipbuilding. Prior to this, he was the chief information officer for Commercial Equipment Financing Division of GE Capital Services based in Stamford, Conn.

REAL ESTATE

Donald R. Crigger was promoted to director of office leasing for southside Hampton Roads at Goodman Segar Hogan Hoffler. He joined the company in 1989 as leasing manager for the World Trade Center in Norfolk and most recently served as assistant manager for the office leasing division.

Also, D. Richard Bushey was promoted to assistant vice president at the real estate company. He joined the company as a leasing associate specializing in office properties in Southside Hampton Roads.

TRAVEL

Page Earp was named branch manager of the Greenbrier officer of CI Travel. She joined CI Travel in 1990 as a travel consultant at the Shore Drive location. She began her career in the travel industry at Kirsh Hotels in Roanoke.

UNITED WAY

Esther M. Corpus, Patricia W. Perry, Jerry L. Causey and Curtis Cole Jr. were elected to serve on the board of the United Way of South Hampton Roads for three year terms. Corpus is senior vice president of Commerce Bank in Virginia Beach; Perry, a civic leader and community volunteer, serves as a principal of Dollar Tree Stores Inc.; Causey is president and chief executive officer of Virginia Natural Gas; and Cole, a former lead volunteer in the Norfolk United Way campaign, is president of Curtex Construction Co., Norfolk.
