John Jehu N. Hill Sr., 60, of the 3900 block of Pughsville Road, died July 20, 1996, in his home.
Mr. Hill was born in Portsmouth and was a self-employed drywall construction contractor. He was a former member of Church of God-Saints of Christ Belleville in Suffolk. He was an Air Force veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Beatrice C. Hill of Portsmouth; two daughters, Sherry Holland of Portsmouth and Brenda Hill of Chesapeake; a son, Jehu N. Hill Jr. of Portsmouth; three sisters, Eva Taylor of Suffolk, Elaine Knight of Fort Washington, Md., Cecelia Hawkins of Forestville, Md.; a foster sister, Emma Chase of Newark, N.J.; two brothers, William Hill of Seattle, Wash. and Herman Hill of Detroit, Mich.; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a godson, James Harris of Newark; a very special friend, Sarah F. Bailey of Suffolk; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.
A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Corprew Funeral Home, Portsmouth, by Evangelist C.C. Farrar. Final disposition will be private. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday for the memorial service.
