THOMAS S. GILLAM

Thomas Scott Gillam, 73, of the 200 block of Grey St., died Saturday, July 20, 1996.

He was a native of Bertie County, owner of Three Rivers Oil Co., and a farmer. Mr. Gillam was a member of Cashie Baptist Church, Charity Lodge (NU)5 and Windsor VFW. He was an Army veteran of World War II and retired from the Windsor Volunteer Fire Department.

Survivors include his wife, Jean Cherry Gillam; a daughter, Lynn G. Evans of Merry Hill; a son, T. Scott Gillam Jr. of Asheville; a stepdaughter, Cherry Warren Gillam of Windsor; a stepson, Paul Erie Warren III of Tarboro; a sister, Anne G. Davenport of Windsor; a brother, Francis Gillam of Windsor; five grandchildren; and three stepgrandchildren.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Edgewood Cemetery by the Rev. Dwight Austin and the Rev. Clyde Denny. The family will receive friends at their residence. Walker Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Windsor Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 508, Windsor, N.C. 27983 or to the Lawrence Memorial Library, Dundee Street, Windsor, N.C. 27983.
