KILL DEVIL HILLS
POLICE NAB SIX IN CRIME SPREE: Six Virginians were arrested and $4,100 in property recovered from a crime spree in Kill Devil Hills on July 7.
Twenty-eight crimes were reported that day, including 16 breaking-and-enterings and larceny from motor vehicles, four forgery and utterings, two counts of damage to property, two larcenies, an attempted break-in ofa vehicle, auto larceny, damage to town property and defrauding an innkeeper.
Arrested and charged in one or more of these crimes were Donald Ray Andrade, 20, of Suffolk, Va.; Robert Lewis Woodard, 19, of Chesapeake; two teenage boys from Portsmouth and Chesapeake; and two teenage girls from Chesapeake.
Kill Devil Hills police Lt. Bill Walker credited the swift and professional action of Detective Todd Iverson and Officers John Towler, Mark Evans, Scott Wilkinson and Carl Brantley.
Police got a lead when descriptions of a vehicle and suspects were provided by a person who refused to take a stolen check.
Recovered were $800 in forgeries and $4,100 in property. About $600 in damage was done to the vehicles. by CNB
