The head of the Christian Coalition said conservative commentator Patrick Buchanan should be allowed to speak at the Republican National Convention.
Ralph Reed, executive director of the influential conservative group, urged the GOP to let Buchanan, whose militant opposition of abortion is unpopular with some party leaders, address the August gathering in San Diego. ``I frankly do not understand the decision of not even allowing him to speak,'' Reed said on ``Fox News Sunday.''
But Republican leaders have not penciled Buchanan - who finished a distant second to Bob Dole in the GOP primaries - into the program and indicate he will have no significant presence at the convention. by CNB
