Eliza A. Kate Diggs, 79, of the first block of High St., died Saturday, July 20, 1996.
Mrs. Diggs, a native of Roanoke, was a former blood director with the Portsmouth Chapter of the American Red Cross. She was a volunteer with Portsmouth General Hospital, the Red Cross, and formerly served as a docent with the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard Museum. She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church and was the widow of Melzer Forrest Diggs Jr.
Survivors include two daughters, Kathryn E. Whitehurst of Greenwich, Conn.; Deborah Savage of Charlotte, N.C.; and four grandsons.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Trinity Episcopal Church by the Rev. Dr. Geoffrey M. Hahneman and the retired Rev. C. Charles Vache. A reception will follow in the parish hall. Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. in Olive Branch Cemetery. Foster Funeral Home, Portsmouth, is handling arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to the American Red Cross.
