Anna Lockette Anderson Woodward, 89, of 212 Bosley Ave., died July 22, 1996, in her home.
A native of Amelia County, she was a daughter of the late Robert Marshall Anderson and Pauline Anderson Anderson and the widow of Thomas Lassiter Woodward. She received her education at Darlington Heights High School, Farmville High School, Longwood College, and the University of Virginia. For 18 years, she was a teacher in Charlotte and Prince Edward Counties and at Suffolk High School. Over the years she was active in the P.T.A., the Sans Souci Literary Club, Suffolk Garden Club, Suffolk Women's Club, and the Daughters of the American Revolution, in which she served as regent for six years. She was a lifelong Presbyterian and a former Sunday school teacher.
Survivors include her son, Thomas Lassiter Woodward Jr. of Suffolk; two grandchildren, Thomas Lassiter Woodward III and Susan Carter Anderson Woodward, both of Suffolk.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at the graveside in Cedar Hill Cemetery by the Rev. Ruffin Alphin. The family will receive friends at her son's home, 227 North Main St., Suffolk. Memorial donations may be made to Westminister Reformed Presbyterian Church, 312 East Constance Road, Suffolk, 23434. R.W. Baker and Company Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
