COURTS COMPLEX CONSTRUCTION WILL AFFECT DOWNTOWN PARKING

Construction of the $14 million Courts Complex project on North Main Street, including approximately 350 off-street parking spaces, is expected to take about 18 months. The city's objective is to maintain as many parking spaces as possible for public use during the construction period.

The public parking areas off Bank Street and between Franklin and Commerce streets will be closed for pre-construction work, effective Friday.

The existing large parking area off Commerce Street, behind Main Street businesses, will remain open to the public until the completion of the new 104-space parking lot between Franklin and Commerce streets. Pedestrian walkway access from Commerce Street to Main Street through the parking area will be maintained and marked.

The nearby public parking lots at Cherry Street (180 spaces) and Saratoga Street (57 spaces) will remain available for public use.

Information regarding these parking arrangements will be posted at appropriate parking lots. For information, call the Suffolk Public Works Department, 925-6385. by CNB
