HAROLD J. ADDINGTON SR.

Harold J. Addington Sr., formerly of Daytona Beach, Fla., died July 19, 1996, at his son's residence in the 4800 block of Holly Road in Virginia Beach.

Mr. Addington was the son of the late Emmitt M. and Maude (Moore) Addington. Born in Charlottesville, Va., and raised in Chester, Va., he lived in Chesapeake before relocating to Daytona Beach. While residing in Chesapeake, he attended the Fairview Church of Christ, serving as a deacon and building chairman. He was employed by R.W. Hudgins & Son and Empire Machinery. Mr. Addington had just recently retired fron the Jon Hall Chevrolet, Daytona Beach, as operations manager.

He is survived by his daughter, Dinah Sue Hastings of Chesapeake; his son, Dr. Harold J. Addington Jr. of Virginia Beach; his brother, Maj. H.W. Addington (Ret.) of Enterprise, Ala., and his sister, Anna Lee Dickson of Chester, Va. He was the brother of the late Fred Roscoe Addington and the late Ruby Kate Cade, both of the Chester area of Richmond. Also surviving Mr. Addington are his many friends and acquaintances in Dayton Beach, Louisa County, Va., and the Richmond areas, including those at Jon Hall Chevrolet.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. July 27, 1996, at H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Virginia Beach. Gerald L. Stemm, minister of Fairview Church of Christ, will preside at the service. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Fairview Church of Christ Building Fund, 1112 Tatemstown Road, Chesapeake. Arrangements are pending for a possible memorial service in Daytona Beach.
