Elsie Dyer Lanier, 82, died July 23, 1996, in a Portsmouth hospital.
Mrs. Lanier, a native of Wytheville, Va., was retired from the U.S. Postal Service in Coalwood, W.Va., after 25 years of service. She was the widow of Cecil C. Lanier and a member of Berea Christian Church, Driver.
Survivors include a daughter, Ann Ross of Portsmouth; a son, Randy Lanier of Landisville, Pa.; a sister, Bea Hardin of Stopover, Ky.; and four grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday in Meadowbrook Mausoleum Chapel, Suffolk, by the Rev. James R. Cress. Friends may join the family today from 7 to 8 p.m. at Baker-Foster Funeral Home, Bennett's Creek Chapel. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
