Hamilton Maywood High, 80, of the 2800 block of E. Point Drive, died July 21, 1996, in his residence.
He retired as a chemical engineer for E.I. Dupont after working 43 years at Sabine River Works in Orange, Texas, before moving to Chesapeake. He was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church. He received his chemical engineering degree from the University of Florida and master's degree in chemical engineering from LSU. He was a member of Tau Beta Pi Engineering Fraternity, Phi Gamma Delta Social Fraternity and the Tidewater Community Band. He was native of Charleston, W.Va., and a Navy veteran of World War II.
He is survived by his wife, India Clare High; a son, Hamilton M. High III, and his wife, Brenda High, of Chesapeake; sister, Nora Ellen Price, and her husband, Jack Price, of Crystal Beach, Fla.; two brothers, Stanley High, and his wife, Velma High, of Charleston, W.Va., the Rev. Charles High, and his wife, Gussie High, of Hurricane, W.Va.; and two grandchildren, Jennifer High of Verona, Va., and Claudette High of Philadelphia.
