LOUISE W. E. SHRIVER

Louise Westervelt Elliott Shriver, 91, of the Ballentine Home, died on Wednesday, July 24, 1996, in a Virginia Beach hospital.

She was born in Norfolk and was the daughter of the late Robert E. and Esther Louise Styron Elliott. She was the widow of Alfred Wallace Shriver Sr. She taught in the public school systems in Virginia and Florida, as well as at Ferrum Junior College and Virginia Polytechnic Institute.

Mrs. Shriver was educated in the Norfolk public schools, graduated with a bachelor of science degree from James Madison University, and received her master's degree from V.P.I. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Norfolk, the United Daughters of the Confederacy, the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the National Society of the American Colonist, and a life member of the Jamestown Society.

Survivors include two sons, Alfred W. Shriver Jr. of Lancaster, Va., and James Elliott Shriver of Cary, N.C.; a sister, Ruth E. Robinett of Norfolk; a brother, George W. Elliott of Arlington, Va.; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and six adopted great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 26, 1996 in First Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Bob Warren and the Rev. Tim Roberts. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will be at Cox Funeral Home today from 7 to 8 p.m. for visitation. Memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church of Norfolk. Cox Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
