Elwood Smith, of the 2500 block of Ludlow St., died July 20, 1996, in a local nursing home.
He was a retired stevedore for ILA Local 1248. Born in Henrico County, Va., he was a member of United House of Prayer For All People.
Survivors include his wife, Lillie Mae Smith; two daughters, Brenda Knight and Cynthia Bates; three sons, Robert Smith, Norman Smith and Tyrone Smith; 18 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two stepchildren, Edward Smith and Sharon Dijon.
A funeral will be conducted 1 p.m. Saturday in United House of Prayer For All People by Apostole W. Scott. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park. Graves Fuenral Home is in charge. Friends may join the family at the residence.
