Genevieve Smith Tucker, 86, of the 300 block of High St., died July 23, 1996, in her home.
Mrs. Tucker, a retired postal clerk, was born in Northampton County and was a member of Murfreesboro United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Roanoke Chowan Hospital Ladies Auxiliary, a member of the Murfreesboro Historical Association and was a charter member of Friends of Old Murfreesboro High School.
Survivors include two daughters, Trilby T. Wall of Concord, N.C., Dr. Sandra T. Houston of Greenville, N.C.; a brother, Cola Elmo Smith of Winston-Salem; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Friday in Murfreesboro United Methodist Church by the Rev. William M. Jeffries. An earlier private graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. in Riverside Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Roanoke Chowan Hospice, P.O. Box 272, Ahoskie, N.C., 27910 or to the Murfreesboro United Methodist Church or the Murfreesboro Historical Association. The family will receive friends at the home. Garrett Funeral Home, Murfreesboro, is handling arrangements.
