LARRY M. SWAIN

Larry Marselle Swain, 61, of Swain Road, died Monday, July 21, 1996, at Pitt County Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.

Mr. Swain was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Jones Swain, and was a member of Malachi Chapel Free Will Baptist Church.

Mr. Swain was owner and operator of Swain Trucking Co. and was retired from the U.S. Army after 20 years service as a highly decorated warrant officer. He was the former FBO of Manteo Airport and had worked as a federal game warden. Mr. Swain was a member of the Columbia Lions Club, the Airline-Airport Pilots Association and was an avid flier.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley E. Swain of Columbia; father, Grady B. Swain of Columbia; mother-in-law, Doris G. Olson of Harris, Minn.; three daughters, Carolyn S. Simmons of Columbia, Sharolyn S. Roughton of Grimesland, N.C., Deborah Godwin of Jeffersonville, Ind.; three sons, David L. Swain of Wanchese, N.C., Robert L. Swain of Columbia, and Charles M. Swain of Laurinburg, N.C.; brother-in-law, Terry Olson of Harris; sister-in-law, Delores E. Olson of Harris; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in Walker Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Azalea Memorial Gardens with Rev. Raymond Lagcher and Rev. Royce Reynolds officiating. Family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Pitt Memorial Foundation, Inc., c/o Cardiac Care Unit, 2100 Stantonsburg Road, P.O. Box 6028, Greenville, N.C. 27858.
