Terry Blucker is the new chairman of the board of directors for Project Voice Inc., a nonprofit volunteer organization aimed at drug and alcohol abuse prevention among teenagers.
Blucker, who had served as vice chairman, replaces Dr. Claudie Mackey, who served as the leader for two years.
Project Voice recently learned it will receive a $50,000 grant from the Governor's Crime Commission in Raleigh for a teen service center. The grant will be matched by local funds.
The matching portion comes from pledges of support made by the Elizabeth City Council and Pasquotank and Camden Board of Commissioners, as well as businesses and civic groups.
Donations of time, materials and other contributions from local businesses and citizens are needed to complete the project. by CNB
