The City Council took the following action at its meeting Tuesday: Public hearing to consider amending section 35-372 of the city code pertaining to bingo admission taxes.

Ordinance granting the request of Sidney Jones and Alvin Urqhart to rezone property at 2315 Rodman Ave. from Commercial C-1 to Commercial C-2-K.

Approved, 7-0

Resolution granting the use permit application of GTE-Mobilnet to construct a 125-foot utility tower at 300 PortCentre Parkway.

Approved, 7-0

Resolution granting the use permit application of Douglas and Sheila Gregory to operate a bed and breakfast inn at 314 Court St.

Approved, 7-0

Resolution granting the use permit application of Malbon Bell, L.L.C., for a use permit to operate a retail store at 233 High St.

Approved, 7-0

Ordinance granting the rezoning application of the city of a comprehensive rezoning of portions of Port Norfolk and Mount Hermon neighborhood from Commerical (C-2) to Industrial (M-1).

Ordinance to amend and re-ordain Section 35-372 of the city code pertaining to bingo. (A modification is required to amend the city code with respect to the amusement tax for bingo to clarify the amounts on which tax is charged.)

Resolution conveying city-owned property in the 3100 block of Ballard Avenue to the Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Authority for sale to a private business. (This parcel in the Hattonsville Redevelopment Project Area is too small for other development purposes, and transfer of the property for sale will place it back on the tax rolls.)
